About this Specialty Coffee
This coffee has grown in the lush highlands of the Guji Zone, within Ethiopia’s Oromia Region, the Shakiso area is celebrated for its exceptional coffee. At high elevations, under rich volcanic soils and cool mountain air, the beans develop remarkable depth, clarity, and vibrancy. The region’s unique terroir produces coffees that are expressive, lively, and beautifully complex.
This lot is crafted from traditional Ethiopian Heirloom varieties, wild and indigenous cultivars carrying generations of genetic diversity. Known for their floral intensity and layered fruit character, these heirloom beans bring elegance, brightness, and refinement to every cup.
It has processed using the Natural (dry) method, the whole cherries are slowly sun-dried, allowing their sugars to deeply infuse into the beans. This patient approach enhances sweetness, body, and aromatic richness, creating a bold yet balanced profile.
In the cup, Hoqata Reserve Natural reveals notes of salted caramel, lime zest, grapefruit, and chocolate, accompanied by delicate floral and ripe berry nuances. The acidity is bright and citrus-driven, yet smooth and harmonious. Silky, syrupy mouthfeel coats the palate, while the sweetness deepens as the coffee cools, offering honey-like richness and subtle cocoa nib undertones. The finish is long, clean, and gently lingering, leaving impressions of sweet citrus, soft caramel, and dark chocolate that fade with elegance.
